Paypal for us.

At Pappa T’s Emporium we only ever want the best for our customers.

We looked at installing a merchant account and using a card payment service like Protex or Wordplay but the costs were, in our opinion, quite extortionate from our bank.

Another option is PayPal. There is no set up fees or monthly transaction fees like the bank merchant account although PayPal do charge us fees of 3.4% + 20 pence per transaction.

Another option is to offer the option for people to pay via a direct transfer from your bank to ours in order to save the 3.4% + 20 pence charges per transaction that we pay when customers use PayPal.

We have noticed that most our customers don’t use this direct transfer option so while we will still be offering this form of secure payment (we do not see any details of your card) we will be primarily using PayPal as our means of accepting payments.

On orders over £100 it would help us keep costs down if you could use the direct payment method but we understand if you wish to use PayPal.

We have done some market research and the overwhelming feedback is that if PayPal is not offered then they don’t buy from that site.

Of course, we welcome any comments you wish to make so please email Pappa T at

Take care and happy reading.
